AoB

Welcome to the AoB Ministry Page!

AoB is our confirmation ministry at Abiding Presence Lutheran Church. We have made a few major changes to this ministry area this year, however our main goals stay the same. The purpose of the AoB Ministries (Affirmation of Baptism) at Abiding Presence Lutheran Church is to equip our youth and families so they may “continue in the covenant God made with them in Holy Baptism: To live among God’s faithful people, to hear the word of God and share in the Lord’s supper, to proclaim the good news of God in Christ through word and deed, to serve all people, following the example of Jesus, and to strive for justice and peace in all the earth.” (Affirmation of Baptism service, ELW p236)

AoB Online Registration

Greetings AoB parents, youth, AoB Sunday School Teachers and AoB Small Group Leaders.

The month of September starts another year of AoB ministries (confirmation) at APLC and we are very excited that your children will be joining us for their first, second or third year.  This year we have a few tweaks to the schedule that we would like you to be aware of:

·     Most lessons are still taught in Sunday School for 6th-8th graders (starts Sunday, September 11th 9:40am).

·     Twice a month 7th and 8th graders with their parents gathering for the Wednesday evenings AoB Events from 6:30-8:00pm (starts Monday, Sept 7th- Dinner 6:30pm, Class 7:00-8:00pm).

·     One overnight AoB retreat and one summer week of Campfirmation at Camp Agape.

Please follow the instructions below to register your child and yourself before Wednesday, August 24th.  If you have questions, you can email me charlie@doveandcross.org.

NOTE:  If you did register your family on the Here We Stand website last year you do not have to register on that website.  However every family has to register on the Sunday School website each year.  Each AoB participant (and leader) must be registered through both websites.  We apologize for you having to register twice.

1 – Register online before Wednesday, August 24th.

2 – Go to:    http://www.youtube.com/user/AugsburgFortress#p/a/u/2/TlvQ6Xdo1gw

and watch the brief tutorial video explaining the online registration.  Please watch this—it will help you with your online registration—we mean it.

3 – Read the attached Word document explaining all of the opportunities for parent/leader involvement in AoB at APLC.

4 – Go to:  http://abidingpresencelutheranchurch.herewestandconfirmation.org

and fill in your information—be sure to include which roles you as a parent/leader want to help with.  (Be use to register following the directions from the blue sheet you received at Sunday’s meeting or the attachment.)

Again, if you have any questions, please contact me.

Thanks!
